Pediatric Asthma Treatment and Management: Support for School Based Health Centers Fall 2019

Series meets Tuesdays (weekly) from 3:00pm to 4:00pm MT.


To build the capacity of School-Based Health Center providers to better assess, treat, manage, and refer the care of students with asthma.

Series Level Objectives

  1. Diagnose asthma in school-aged children according to NHLBI Asthma Guidelines
  2. Differentiate asthma from related conditions
  3. Apply the NHLBI Asthma Guidelines to assess asthma severity
  4. Teach correct inhaler technique to a patient
  5. Obtain and interpret Spirometry data as a component of an asthma clinical evaluation
  6. Implement guidelines for step-level care in asthma management 
  7. Initiate the first steps in an evaluation of a case of severe asthma

The audience for this series is School Based Health Center mid-level (NP or PA) providers in Colorado
